What is Honkahalli?

Honkahalli is the basketball facility owned by Tapiolan Honka. Built in 2011 exclusively for basketball, the facility hosts three full size basketball courts, physical training facilities, the club office and a cafeteria.

How to get to Honkahalli from Urheilupuisto metro station?

Honkahalli is about 10-minute walk from the Urheilupuisto (Sports park) metro (=subway) station. Metropolitan Helsinki has only one metro line, going east-west direction.

Once you exit from the Urheilupuisto metro station, you have an about 750 meter walk ahead. You will see a large recreational center/indoor football center that looks like a spaceship (that's Esport Arena). Continue walking towards that and past the football fields, and you will see another large building with a large parking area around it. That one is Metro Arena, an ice-hockey and festival arena. Honkahalli is located next to it.

In each metro station, you need to buy the ticket before entering the platform. You will find ticket machines just before the entrance.

If you travel just between Matinkylä and Keilaniemi you will need 1 zone ticket (‘Espoon sisäinen’).

If you travel into Helsinki side, you will need to have an Extended Region 2 ticket which costs 5.00 EUR or less for kids (day cards also available).

How to get to Honkahalli  from the Helsinki Airport with a taxi?

If you arrive to Helsinki by airplane, you can of course use a taxi to get to Honkahalli. The trip will take about 30 minutes and cost about 60-70 euros. All taxis accept credit cards and the fare pricing is standardised based on meter. Normal-sized taxis take 4 passengers per car. If you are lucky, you might see a van taxi that can take more, but one should not count on it.

There are also shared taxi services such as Airport Taxi  The duration of the ride depends on the destinations of other passengers. Honkahalli is in Area 2 so the cost is 29.50 EUR for 1-2 persons and less for more. According to Airport Taxi pricelist a private transport for 11-16 persons can be pre-ordered for 99,50 EUR.

Give the taxi driver address "Urheilupuistontie 2 in Tapiola". They should manage with this piece of information alone, but if they ask for clarification say "Next to Metro Areena in Tapiola, you can drop us off at the Metro Areena parking lot"

Tipping is not expected in Finland with any services, including taxis.

How to get to Honkahalli from the Helsinki Airport with public transport?

You can also use public transport to get from the airport to Honkahalli. The trip will take about 75-90 minutes and will cost 5.00 EUR for adults (Extended Region 2 ticket) or less for kids (day cards also available)

Take either I or P commuter train from the Airport to reach the Central Railway station. Underneath, there’s a subway station called Rautatientori (Central Railway Station) from which the westbound metro will take you to Urheilupuisto.

How to get to Honkahalli from the Tallinn ferries?

Most Tallinn ferries will arrive at Länsisatama (West Harbour). Walk to the Ruoholahti metro stations and take the west-bound metro to Urheilupuisto. The trip will take you about 35-45 minutes walks included.

How to get to Honkahalli from the Sweden ferries?

Some ferries from Sweden will arrive at harbours needs Harbor Square. Walk across the downtown to either Helsingin Yliopisto (Helsinki University) or Rautatientori (Central Railway Station) metro stations from which the westbound metro will take you to Urheilupuisto.

You will need Extended Region 2 ticket which costs 5.00 EUR or less for kids (day cards also available).
